Elevating Voices for Change is focused on supporting community efforts, advocacy, and policy changes directed toward increasing children’s and families’ access to health resources, high-quality services, and healthy environments for development. Efforts will be informed by grassroots perspectives, engage families and communities as partners, and work to eliminate racial and other social inequities in the foundations of children’s health.

The Health Foundation has awarded grants to Healthi Kids, a community-based children’s advocacy coalition and initiative of Common Ground Health, for policy and advocacy work. Healthi Kids has engaged families and neighborhood residents in successful advocacy for greater access to physical activity, healthy food, and safe play areas in schools and communities. Building on these efforts and an extensive planning process, Healthi Kids has developed a whole child health agenda to ensure all children have a connected community of caring adults to support them and safe, supportive environments that will allow them to thrive. Healthi Kids is working to advance policies and practices in four focus areas including healthy learning environments, access to services, the power of play, and equitable communities.
