A Fresh Perspective: Greater Rochester Health Foundation Appoints New CEO

Throughout its nationwide search for a new president and CEO, the Greater Rochester Health Foundation kept several essential qualities in mind: a fresh perspective, a history of philanthropy, and a passion for improving the health and wellness of their community. Matthew A. Kuhlenbeck embodies these qualities and effective January 14, 2019, he will become the Health Foundation’s new president and CEO.

“We had remarkable candidates, but Matt’s depth of experience in philanthropy, his commitment to strategic processes and outcomes, and his reputation for building consensus and teamwork in his organization and community stood out to the search committee,” said Dr. Louis J. Papa, Greater Rochester Health Foundation board chair. “Matt is enthusiastic to continue the excellent stewardship of interim CEO Dennis Richardson, and we know he will help us evolve and build on the success and great work our staff, the board and previous CEO John Urban.”

Kuhlenbeck previously served as program director at Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH), where he led a $20-million annual portfolio of responsive grantmaking. For more information, click here.
