Do You Know a Healthy Hero?
All children need a "hero" to help them eat right and stay active.
The Greater Rochester Health Foundation wants to recognize people who are helping kids stay healthy. These are individuals or groups that have gone above and beyond their normal duties to successfully impact children's nutrition and/or physical activity. Some examples are:
* Organizing a physical activity. * Changing a school lunch or vending machine policy. * Organizing their neighbors to address the issues. * Making a playground safer. * Starting a community garden.
We want to recognize these individuals/groups with a $250 award that will be made as a donation to their organization or an organization of their choice in the spirit of improving the health of children through increased physical activity and improved nutrition.
Eligibility:
* Healthy Heroes are Individuals or groups that have impacted children ages 2-10 years. * Nominees may come from any number of backgrounds including: parents, teachers, clergy, community members, professionals, volunteers and neighbors. * Individuals may nominate one person or group per month, however subsequent nominations of the same individual or group must be for a different activity. * The application is open to all residents of the Greater Rochester Area (Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates counties). * The financial award will not be given to individuals; it must be donated to an organization working with children ages 2-10 to encourage healthy lifestyles.
